Spector Pro - 5 Stars

superior

Spector Pro impressed us in every test we performed.
It recorded/monitored each category, not only better than the others, but it showed information the rest simple did not. Product testers commented on how easy it was to install, use and most importantly review the recorded data.

Our highest recommendation!
In terms of quality, performance, ease-of-use and overall monitoring Spector Pro leads the way. The attention to every detail is apparent from the very first click and the ease-of-use is outstanding. We are confident in awarding it our highest recommendation and consider it to be the best choice for overall monitoring.

Spector Pro Details

Spector Pro is, by far, the most comprehensive Internet monitoring and recording tool for the home and small business we have come across, and we have examined at least ten different products.

Spector Pro records every kind of Internet and computer activity imaginable,
and it provides the greatest level of detail in its recordings.

Spector Pro records:

  • Chats
  • Instant Messages
  • Emails
  • Web Sites Visited
  • Items searched for on Google and other search engines
  • Keystrokes Typed
  • MySpace Activity
  • Files Transferred

Spector Pro ALSO provides a Top 10 Summary of Web, Chat, Instant Message and Program Activity over the past day, week and month! See Everything it Records >

Spector Pro also has the best screenshot recorder
we have encountered from any product on the market.
Spector Pro Screen Snapshots
It can take snapshots as frequently as once per second, but it is also smart enough to take snapshots when it counts most: when the user is actively using the computer, such as clicking on the mouse, moving within a page, bringing up a web site, opening an application, etc.

Unlike other monitoring programs that force you to click on a new file for each screen snapshot you want to view, Spector Pro provides an extremely easy and intuitive playback feature. Click the “Play” button, and the snapshots play one right after another, like a movie, or move forward or backward through the snapshots one at a time, clicking on “Forward” or “Back”. You can jump ahead, go to the beginning or the end, rewind, or using a scroll bar, select a specific date, day and time to start viewing. With Spector Pro’s highly advanced screen snapshot recording and playback, you get to see in EXACT visual detail what the person you are monitoring has been doing.

Other Features

Block access to web sites you find inappropriate.
Spector Pro also allows you to take action when you discover inappropriate activity.
For example, if you see family members or employees visiting sexually oriented web sites, or gambling web sites, or hate sites, or other sites you find inappropriate, you can simply click the “Block” button beside that site and block all future access to that web site.

Restrict access to the Internet.
Spector Pro also allows you to block out periods when your kids can and cannot surf the Internet.

Block specific people from chatting with your children.
In what we find a particularly useful feature, Spector Pro allows you to block specific people from chatting with your children. For example, if you see questionable chats between your daughter and a man, you can tell Spector Pro to block all future chats between them. Your daughter won’t even be able to see the man’s name on her buddy list, and if the man tries to send a message to your daughter, it will be blocked by Spector Pro.

Stealth Protection

StealthWe have learned that many people using these kinds of programs are concerned that their children or employees might easily discover and try to disable the monitoring programs from working.

SpectorSoft has what it calls a Super-Stealth mode that it has been perfecting for more than eight years now.

Spector Pro does not show up in your program list, and its files do not show up on your hard drive. Further, Spector Pro does not show up in your system tray, and it cannot be removed using the Add/Remove feature of Windows.

Spector Pro is protected by a Hotkey, which you can change, and by the password you supply. You need to know both the Hotkey and the Password to access the recordings and if you wish to uninstall the program.

There are some other products we have tested that were detected and disabled by Norton Antivirus, and we have chosen not to include several of them in this review. (We did not find that Spector Pro was detected by any antivirus program.)

Customer Support

supportSpectorSoft provides technical support 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, by toll-free telephone, email, chat and via a very extensive knowledge base. No other company we have come across comes close. In fact, the majority of products we have tested don’t provide a phone number or an address on their web site, and those that provide any kind of contact information generally don’t respond or are very slow to respond.

Bottom Line

Spector Pro impressed us in every test we performed.
It recorded/monitored each category, not only better than the others, but it showed information the rest simple did not. Product testers commented on how easy it was to install, use and most importantly review the recorded data.
